               Lakeside Restaurant on the lake at the Illinois Beach State Park Afterwards we will tour Shiloh House, the home of Zion's founder, Dr. John Alexander Dowie. He founded Zion in July 1901 and envisioned it as a city based on Christian principles, and governed by his Christian Catholic church. Even to this day, almost all the streets in Zion have biblical names. Dr. Dowie also started the Zion Tabernacle of the Christian Catholic Apostolic Church which was the only church in town. Admission to both the Shiloh House and the Zion Historical Society will be $7 per person.
